Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
Season the pork chops with salt and pepper on both sides.
In a large skillet, heat butter and olive oil over medium heat.
Add the sliced onions and cook until caramelized, about 15 minutes.
Remove onions from the skillet and set aside.
Sear the pork chops for 3-4 minutes on each side until browned.
Pour beef broth into the skillet and add thyme.
Return onions to the skillet, placing them on top of pork chops.
Sprinkle Swiss cheese over the onions and pork chops.
Transfer the skillet to the oven and bake for 15-20 minutes.
