Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x5 inch loaf pan.
In a mixing bowl, mash the ripe bananas with a fork until smooth.
Add the melted butter to the mashed bananas and mix well.
Stir in the baking soda and salt until fully combined.
Add the sugar, beaten egg, and vanilla extract to the mixture.
Mix until well combined, but do not overmix.
Gradually add the flour and fold until just incorporated.
Gently fold in the chocolate chips, reserving a few for topping.
Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and sprinkle remaining chocolate chips on top.
Bake for 50-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
