Ingredients

  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon active dry yeast
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 6 large eggs
  • 1 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 egg for egg wash

Instructions

  • In a bowl, mix flour, sugar, salt, and yeast.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk eggs, milk, and vanilla extract.
  • Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry mixture.
  • Knead the dough until smooth and elastic.
  • Incorporate the softened butter, kneading until fully absorbed.
  • Cover the dough with a cloth and let it rise in a warm place for 1-2 hours.
  • Once doubled in size, punch down the dough and shape it into a loaf.
  • Place the shaped dough into a greased loaf pan.
  • Allow it to rise again for about 1 hour.
  • Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and brush the top with the egg wash.
  • Bake for 30-35 minutes or until golden brown.
  • Let it cool on a wire rack before slicing.
