Ingredients

  • 2 cups fresh strawberries hulled and sliced
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • A pinch of salt

Instructions

  • Wash and hull the strawberries, then slice them.
  • Combine sliced strawberries and 1/4 cup of sugar in a bowl and let sit for 10 minutes.
  • Mash the strawberries with a fork to release their juices.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together the heavy cream, milk, remaining sugar, vanilla extract, and salt.
  • Stir the mashed strawberries into the cream mixture.
  • Pour the mixture into an ice cream maker and churn according to the manufacturer's instructions.
  • Transfer the ice cream to an airtight container.
  • Freeze for at least 4 hours or until firm.
  • Scoop and serve, garnished with fresh strawberries if desired.
