Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef 80/20 blend
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 4 burger buns
  • 4 slices of cheddar cheese
  • Lettuce leaves
  • Tomato slices
  • Bacon strips optional
  • Condiments ketchup, mustard, mayo

Instructions

  • Preheat a griddle or cast-iron skillet over medium-high heat.
  • Divide the ground beef into 4 equal portions and roll into loose balls.
  • Place the meat balls onto the hot skillet.
  • Smash each ball down to about 1/2 inch thick using a spatula.
  • Season the patties with salt and pepper.
  • Cook for 2-3 minutes until browned and crispy.
  • Flip the patties and place a slice of cheese on each.
  • Cook for an additional 1-2 minutes until the cheese melts.
  • Toast the burger buns on the griddle until golden brown.
  • Assemble the burgers with lettuce, tomato, and condiments.
