Preheat your oven to 450°F (230°C).
Remove the prime rib from the refrigerator and allow it to come to room temperature for about 30 minutes.
In a bowl, mix olive oil, garlic, rosemary, thyme, salt, and pepper together.
Rub the herb mixture all over the prime rib, ensuring to cover it evenly.
Place the roast in a roasting pan, bone side down.
Roast in the preheated oven for 20 minutes to create a crust.
Reduce the temperature to 325°F (165°C) and continue roasting.
Use a meat thermometer to check for desired doneness (130°F for medium-rare).
Once done, remove from the oven and let it rest for 20-30 minutes.
Slice and serve with beef broth or your favorite gravy.
