Ingredients

  • 1 prime rib roast about 5-7 lbs
  • Salt to taste
  • Black pepper to taste
  • Fresh rosemary chopped
  • Fresh thyme chopped
  • Garlic powder optional

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 450°F (232°C).
  • Let the prime rib sit at room temperature for 1 hour.
  • Pat the roast dry and season generously with salt, pepper, and herbs.
  • Place the roast on a rack in a roasting pan, fat side up.
  • Insert a meat thermometer into the thickest part of the roast.
  • Roast at 450°F for 20 minutes to develop a crust.
