Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 cup plain yogurt
  • 1/2 cup warm water
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon melted butter for brushing
  • Optional: minced garlic fresh cilantro for garnish

Instructions

  • In a bowl, mix the flour, sugar, salt, and baking powder.
  • In another bowl, combine yogurt and warm water.
  • Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients.
  • Knead the dough for about 5-7 minutes until smooth.
  • Form the dough into a ball and coat with olive oil.
  • Cover the dough with a damp cloth and let it rest for 30 minutes.
  • Divide the dough into 6 equal portions.
  • Roll each portion into an oval shape, about 1/4 inch thick.
  • Preheat a skillet over medium-high heat.
  • Place the rolled naan on the skillet and cook until bubbles form, then flip to cook the other side.
  • Brush the cooked naan with melted butter and garnish with garlic or cilantro if desired.
