Ingredients

  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup light corn syrup
  • 1 cup water
  • 2 tablespoons powdered gelatin
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt
  • Optional: food coloring

Instructions

  • In a medium saucepan, mix sugar, corn syrup, and water.
  • Heat over medium heat until the sugar dissolves.
  • Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
  • In a bowl, sprinkle gelatin over 1/2 cup of cold water and let it bloom for 5 minutes.
  • Add the gelatin mixture to the sugar mixture.
  • Using a hand mixer, beat on high speed until fluffy (about 10 minutes).
  • Stir in vanilla and salt, and add food coloring if desired.
  • Pour the mixture into a greased baking pan.
  • Let it set for at least 4 hours at room temperature.
  • Cut into squares and dust with powdered sugar.
