Ingredients

  • 1 kg whole chicken cut into pieces
  • 1/2 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 2 tablespoons gochujang Korean chili paste
  • 2 tablespoons sesame oil
  • 4 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 tablespoon ginger grated
  • 2 tablespoons sesame seeds
  • 2 green onions sliced
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil

Instructions

  • Rinse the chicken pieces under cold water and pat dry with paper towels.
  • In a large bowl, mix soy sauce, honey, gochujang, sesame oil, garlic, and ginger.
  • Add the chicken pieces to the marinade, ensuring they are evenly coated.
  • Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, or overnight for better flavor.
  • Preheat the oven to 200°C (400°F).
  • Heat vegetable oil in a large oven-safe skillet over medium-high heat.
  • Add the marinated chicken pieces skin-side down and sear for about 5 minutes until golden brown.
  • Flip the chicken and pour any remaining marinade over the top.
  • Sprinkle sesame seeds and green onions on top.
  • Transfer the skillet to the preheated oven and bake for 30 minutes, or until the chicken is fully cooked.
