Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 ½ cups granulated sugar
  • 1 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup granulated sugar for glaze
  • ¼ cup water for glaze
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract for glaze

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 325°F (160°C) and grease a bundt pan.
  • In a large bowl, cream the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  • Stir in the vanilla extract.
  • In another bowl, sift together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, alternating with the buttermilk.
  • Mix until well combined and smooth.
  • Pour the batter into the prepared bundt pan.
  • Bake for 50-60 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  • Prepare the glaze by combining sugar, water, and vanilla in a saucepan. Bring to a simmer and stir until sugar dissolves.
  • Once the cake is done, allow it to cool for 10 minutes, then invert it onto a serving plate and drizzle with glaze.
