Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef or lamb
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup grated onion
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1/4 cup fresh parsley chopped
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1 egg
  • Olive oil for frying

Instructions

  • In a large bowl, combine ground meat, breadcrumbs, grated onion, and minced garlic.
  • Add chopped parsley, oregano, salt, and pepper to the mixture.
  • Crack the egg into the mixture and mix until well combined.
  • Shape the mixture into small balls, about 1 inch in diameter.
  • Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  • Fry the meatballs in batches, turning occasionally until browned, about 10 minutes.
  • Once cooked through, remove meatballs and drain on paper towels.
  • Optionally, simmer in tomato sauce for added flavor for about 5 minutes.
  • Serve warm with a garnish of fresh herbs.
  • Enjoy your Greek meatballs with lemon wedges or tzatziki sauce.
