Peel and cut the potatoes into uniform chunks.
Place the potato chunks in a pot and cover with cold water.
Add a pinch of salt and bring to a boil.
Reduce heat and simmer until tender, about 15-20 minutes.
Drain the potatoes and return them to the pot.
Add butter and let it melt.
Pour in the heavy cream gradually while mashing.
Season with salt and pepper to taste.
Mix until smooth and creamy.
Serve warm, optionally garnished with herbs.
