Ingredients

  • 1 cup jasmine rice
  • 8 cups water or chicken broth
  • Salt to taste
  • Toppings: sliced green onions ginger, soy sauce, sesame oil, shredded chicken, or soft-boiled eggs

Instructions

  • Rinse the jasmine rice under cold water until the water runs clear.
  • In a large pot, combine the rinsed rice and water or broth.
  • Bring the mixture to a boil over medium-high heat.
  • Once boiling, reduce the heat to low and cover the pot.
  • Simmer for about 45 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  • Check the consistency; if too thick, add more water or broth.
  • Season with salt to taste.
  • Remove from heat and let it sit for a few minutes.
  • Serve hot in bowls.
  • Add your favorite toppings before enjoying.
