Rinse the jasmine rice under cold water until the water runs clear.
In a large pot, combine the rinsed rice and water or broth.
Bring the mixture to a boil over medium-high heat.
Once boiling, reduce the heat to low and cover the pot.
Simmer for about 45 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Check the consistency; if too thick, add more water or broth.
Season with salt to taste.
Remove from heat and let it sit for a few minutes.
Serve hot in bowls.
