Ingredients

  • 1 large head of cabbage
  • 1 lb ground beef or turkey
  • 1 cup cooked rice
  • 1 onion chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 can 15 oz tomato sauce
  • 1 can 14.5 oz diced tomatoes
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • 1 cup shredded cheese optional

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Remove the core from the cabbage and boil the head in water for about 5 minutes until softened.
  • Carefully peel off the outer leaves and set aside.
  • In a skillet, sauté onion and garlic until translucent.
  • Add ground beef (or turkey) to the skillet and cook until browned.
  • Stir in cooked rice, tomato sauce, diced tomatoes, paprika, salt, and pepper.
  • Place a layer of cabbage leaves in a greased baking dish.
  • Spoon a portion of the meat mixture onto each cabbage leaf and roll tightly.
  • Place the rolls seam-side down in the dish, packing them closely.
  • Pour any remaining sauce over the rolls and cover with foil. Bake for 45 minutes.
