Ingredients

  • 1 baguette or ciabatta loaf
  • 4 ripe tomatoes diced
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • Fresh basil leaves chopped
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Balsamic vinegar optional

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  • Slice the baguette or ciabatta into 1/2 inch thick slices.
  • Arrange the bread slices on a baking sheet.
  • Brush each slice lightly with olive oil.
  • Bake in the oven for about 10 minutes, until golden and crisp.
  • In a bowl, combine diced tomatoes, minced garlic, chopped basil, olive oil, salt, and pepper.
  • Mix well to combine all ingredients.
  • Once the bread is ready, remove it from the oven.
  • Top each slice with the tomato mixture and drizzle with balsamic vinegar if desired.
