Ingredients

  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 packet 2 ¼ tsp instant yeast
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 1 ½ cups warm water
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter melted
  • 1 egg for egg wash
  • Sesame seeds or poppy seeds optional

Instructions

  • Combine warm water, sugar, and yeast in a large bowl and let sit for 5 minutes.
  • Add melted butter and salt to the yeast mixture.
  • Gradually mix in flour until a dough forms.
  • Knead the dough on a floured surface for 8-10 minutes.
  • Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1 hour.
  • Punch down the dough and divide it into 12 pieces.
  • Shape each piece into a ball and place on a baking sheet.
  • Cover and let the rolls rise for another 30 minutes.
  • Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • Brush with egg wash, sprinkle with seeds, and bake for 20 minutes.
