Ingredients

  • 12 ounces of pasta penne or rigatoni
  • 2 cups marinara sauce
  • 1 cup ricotta cheese
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon dried Italian herbs
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh basil for garnish

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • Cook the pasta in boiling salted water until al dente, according to package instructions.
  • In a large bowl, mix the ricotta, egg, Italian herbs, salt, and pepper until well combined.
  • Drain the pasta and add it to the ricotta mixture, stirring to coat.
  • Spread a layer of marinara sauce on the bottom of a baking dish.
  • Layer half of the pasta mixture over the sauce.
  • Sprinkle half of the mozzarella cheese over the pasta.
  • Add another layer of marinara sauce, followed by the remaining pasta mixture.
  • Top with the remaining marinara sauce and mozzarella cheese.
  • Cover with foil and bake for 20 minutes, then remove the foil and bake for an additional 10 minutes until bubbly and golden.
